Canada joined the world in instructing everyone to stay home, and maintain a ‘social separation.’ We recorded our life, and our dinner, during our stay-at-home period in Mississauga starting in mid-March of 2020. We thought it would be interesting to record our thoughts and observations as the world grappled with the COVID-19 virus in 2020. To date, we have recorded some four months of our thoughts as the COVID-19 situation has progressed locally, in Canada and around the world.
The first big snow storm of the season roared in riding high winds in late January. We stocked up on groceries at home, and neither of us really had to go out anywhere, so we heard the winds of an Alberta Clipper, a fast-moving west-to-east storm, carry its load of snow into Mississauga. Everybody was nice and cozy at home, especially the cats.
Merry Christmas to all our friends, neighbours and family, and a Happy New Year! Our Christmas card photo was taken in October in our gazebo in the back yard. The photo was just in time. The next day, bad weather closed in on Mississauga for about a week.
This year of 2012, our garden looks better than it ever has. The garden is a long and complex springtime project. This year, my Mother took a real interest in the garden, and the extra days she spent with us helping me get everything planted were glorious. The many indoor tropical plants in the house go outside around the Victoria Day holiday weekend. Now the patio looks like one of those tropical spa getaways you see in the upscale design magazines.
